What is the recovery like from a total knee replacement?
I am having my right knee replaced in September and am a little concerned about what to expect re my recovery. I live alone and will have to contend with stairs, driving, etc.
Has anyone ever had fluid drained from their knee? Was it painful? Did it end up helping you in the longrun?
I recently had ACL replacement surgery, and there’s about 10CCs of excess fluid in the knee joint. My doctor suggested draining it, but I opted to let it subside by itself. Now, I’m considering draining it. I’m going to consult my doctor about this, but I’m just curious if anyone else has done this. Did it help to relieve pressure? Was it painful to have it done?
Thanks
Will my husband’s pay rate affect my ability to get disability payments if I need them from the govt?
I need a total knee replacement — in alot of pain and am thinking of going out on disability. I make 44K per year, but husband makes much more. Would his pay affect Social Security disability for me? I have 130 sick days with my job and short term disability there…so I will obviousl take advantage of that 1st. Just hoping I will be able to work again effectively after I have the joint replaced. Tired of pain. Darned tired.
what more can i do to rehab from total knee replacement?
i’m 40 and had a total knee replacement at the end of sept. i’m not getting my range of motion back, and cannot walk still because my knee is bent to far still. i can walk with one crutch, but some days with 2 because it’s at 45degrees…NOT GOOD! i’m doing rehab and home-rehab religiously. i do the prone leg hang with a weight to try and pull my leg straight too. I’ve had 8 prior surgeries, and have never, EVER had this much trouble coming back!
it’s hard to go into all the details, but has anyone had similar problems, and what did you do? my doctor is talking the possibility of putting me to sleep and forcing my knee, but wants to try and avoid that because there’s a chance of damaging tissue around the joint. i know i have about a 6 month period before the scar tissue starts to harden beyond repair without surgery.
thanks for your help!!!
